Annual Club Picnic

The annual picnic takes place on the third Saturday of August, at Harlow Platts Park, located just south of the South Boulder Recreation Center at 1360 Gillespie Drive, Boulder, 80305.

Please note the location for this year’s picnic. For a map of the location, please see this google map link.

The picnic starts at 11:00 am. Folks with last names beginning with A-M are asked to bring a covered dish and folks with last names beginning with N-Z should bring a dessert. BBQ sandwiches and beverages will be provided by the club. We usually fill 1,000 grab bags with specimens for the Denver Gem and Mineral Show and for our club show in December. The participants make quick work of the grab bag stuffing, and then enjoyed a picnic of BBQ pulled-pork, great fixings, and desserts.

Afterwards, we present several awards. One of the awards presented each year is the Rockhound of the Year. Please nominate someone in the club who you feel deserves this honor. For more details about the award and to vote, see the May through July FMC newsletters.
